After he couldn’t make it in Düsseldorf, Michael Rensing now wants to prove himself somewhere else and announces his departure from Fortuna.

After seven years with Fortuna Düsseldorf, goalkeeper Michael Rensing is looking for his luck elsewhere.

“I’d like to take up a new challenge this summer. I’m in top form, motivated and full of anticipation to be on the pitch,” the 35-year-old said in a club announcement on Monday.

Kahn’s footprints too big for Rensing
Rensing, who was once to be built up at Bayern Munich to succeed Oliver Kahn, moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Düsseldorf in 2013. With Fortuna he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2018.

However, Rensing lost his regular place at the beginning of this season to the US national goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who was on loan from Manchester City. After his injury Florian Kastenmeier took over.
