United are celebrating a home win in the Manchester Derby. City will lose both league games to their rivals. Liverpool’s championship is only a matter of time now.

United win Manchester City Derby!

Manchester United celebrate a 2-0 (1-0) home win against Manchester City. United already won the Premier League first round match.

The Citizens had a better start to the game and started with a powerful start. United keeper David de Gea (10th) was able to fend off a swerve from Raheem Sterling just to the corner. The lead for the Red Devils came from nowhere.

Ederson misses make for United’s home win
Bruno Fernandes quickly lobbed a free kick to Anthony Martial. The Skyblues’ rearguard slept collectively, let him go and the Frenchman (30.) pulled off in ice-cold style. Martial was a little lucky as Ederson’s shot slipped into the short corner under his hand.

After the restart, City had more of the game and United’s attacking efforts were largely counter-attacked. Martial (78.) left the field in the final quarter of the hour slightly battered. He was replaced by Scott McTominay.

Ederson made the next mistake just before the end. The Brazilian wanted to make the game fast, but threw the ball directly to substitute McTominay (90.+7), who pulled away from almost 30 metres and decided the game.

Guardiola visibly pitted after derby bankruptcy
United’s defence withstood the pressure from the city for the entire season, and the victory is quite all right. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is now celebrating their next success after the victory in the first round (2-1). At that time Marcus Rashford and Martial scored to win. Martial is the first United player to score in both Premier League games in a single season against City since Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2006/2007 season.

Pep Guardiola commented on the BBC after the derby bankruptcy: “We played well, it was too little in the last period, but the second half was better and it was a good performance”. He defends his goalkeeper after his slip-up. “He’s an exceptional goalkeeper. Mistakes are part of the game, I don’t judge my players. Congratulations to United. Quality wins out.

Incidentally, the British colleagues described Guardiola’s face by saying, “If looks could kill…”

…City is 25 points behind the leaders, Liverpool FC. Jürgen Klopp and his Reds are now two wins away before the championship title moves to Liverpool for the first time since 1989/1990. United jump to 5th place with the triple. (Premier League table)

Chelsea dupes Everton at Ancelotti return
Already in the afternoon Chelsea FC were able to consolidate fourth place. The Blues confidently won 4-0 (2-0) against FC Everton. (The game to read in the ticker)

Mason Mount (14.), Pedro (21.), Willian (51.) and Olivier Giroud (54.) showed Carlo Ancelotti’s team the limits. It was the first time in nine years that the Italian returned to Stamford Bridge. From 2009 to 2011 Ancelotti was coach for Chelsea. Before the reunion, the 60-year-old said it was going to be “emotional” for him.

Everton remains in 12th place after the defeat, while Chelsea has a three-point lead over Manchester United. Frank Lampard’s team will have to travel to Birmingham to see Aston Villa before the return match in the last 16 of the Champions League against FC Bayern (18 March, from 21.00 – first leg 0-3 for Bayern) in Munich.
