After several prominent cases of corona, the English Premier League is also suspending the season until at least 3 April. The league announced this decision after a crisis meeting on Friday.
The English FA and the English Football League (EFL) with the second-class championship and the League One and Two (3rd and 4th league) followed this decision as well as women’s football on the island.
Especially bitter is the decision for FC Liverpool with coach Jürgen Klopp, who was well on his way to win the championship.
“On this day, football and football matches are not important at all,” wrote Klopp in a letter to the fans. Should the decision help to ensure that even a single person can stay healthy, Liverpool FC would not question it. “Football is not immune to this virus.” Klopp concluded his letter with the words: “Take care! You’ll never walk alone, Jürgen.
