Ex-President Lorenzo Sanz was admitted to hospital with coronavirus and is now in intensive care.
According to the Spanish newspaper Ideal, the 76-year-old has been suffering from fever for the past few days and is therefore in a critical condition.
Sanz wins the Champions League twice with Real
From 1995 to 2000 Sanz was in office with the royal family. During this time he won the Champions League in 1998 and 2000 – the titles seven and eight at European level.
Long-standing financial problems gave the native Madrilenian a hard time.
