Carlo Ancelotti cannot understand how the British deal with the coronavirus. The Everton coach is very concerned about his country.

Team manager Carlo Ancelotti of English Premier League club FC Everton has accused Great Britain of underestimating the coronavirus epidemic.

“I have the impression that here in Britain the serious situation has not really been understood. Life goes on almost as usual,” the coach criticised in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

However, he welcomed the decision to suspend the Premier League.

“That’s right, given the scenario of the last few hours. You couldn’t go on like this. Health is a priority for everyone: teams, fans, clubs and staff in the football sector,” said the 60-year-old football teacher, who worked for the German record champions Bayern Munich in the 2016/17 season.

Ancelotti: Football now without meaning
At Everton, midfielder Andre Gomes has been infected with the corona virus.

“Although we are not under quarantine, preventative measures have been taken. Gomes is doing better. The fever has gone down and that’s the most important thing,” said Ancelotti.

The coach is concerned about the epidemic in his home country, Italy, where the death toll has risen to over 1200.

“Given the tragedy we are experiencing, football has no meaning for me now. We have to confront a pandemic, a situation that no one before us had experienced. The rising death toll in Italy is terrible. We must now focus on this fight. The rest does not count,” said Ancelotti.
