Liverpool – Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is missing from Liverpool FC for longer than expected. Coach Jürgen Klopp has to do without the Brazilian not only in the Premier League.

World goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be missing team manager Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool FC in the fight for the Champions League quarter-finals.

As Klopp announced on Friday, the Brazilian goalkeeper will be absent until the end of next week due to a muscular injury in the hip area. This means he will not be eligible for the Premier League duel against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday (1.30 p.m.), nor for the return leg of the last sixteen in the Premier League against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday (9 p.m.).

Alisson’s injury, which was more serious than he had initially thought, came before the FA Cup round of 16 at Chelsea FC (2-0) last Tuesday. His representative Adrian had messed up when Willian lost 1-0.

Liverpool must catch up

The first leg of the Champions League at Atletico had previously seen Liverpool lose 1-0. It then went on to lose 3-0 to FC Watford, which ended a series of 44 matches without defeat.

In the league, the Reds, who are likely to be hard pressed to lose the league title on 22 points, now want to show a reaction. “People might say it’s a difficult situation. It’s more interesting for me,” Klopp said. “I have to help my players get back to the level we want to be at.
