Munich – FC Barcelona is allowed to strike again on the transfer market and decides in favour of a Danish player. The change could throw his current club into chaos.

On Monday FC Barcelona finally received the green light, and on Thursday the Catalans announced that the deal was finally closed.

Thanks to a special clause, Barca was entitled to look for a replacement after Ousmane Dembélé’s long-term injury.

There were two conditions the club had to meet: The newcomer had to be either club-free or play in Spain, and he is only eligible to play in national competitions. The choice was obvious: Martin Braithwaite.

FC Barcelona withdrew the exit clause in the amount of 18 million euros, provided the previous attacker from relegation candidate CD Leganés with a contract until 2024 – including a handsome exit clause in the amount of 300 million euros.

A lot of money for someone who has already got around a lot in his career. And who, in the case of Barca, is now to compensate for the losses of the long-term injured Dembélé and Luis Suárez.

Braithwaite will be captain in Toulouse…
Braithwaite is a Danish national player of Guyanese origin, scored in his last three international matches and has scored seven goals in 39 national team appearances. The 28-year-old has already played in England and France for La Liga club Leganés.

Braithwaite’s most successful period was in Ligue 1, and he has scored 35 goals in four seasons for Toulouse FC, where he was promoted to captain. In 2017, Middlesbrough FC paid more than 11 million euros for the attacking man, but he did not make his mark in England, just as he did when he was subsequently loaned to Girondins Bordeaux.
