Pep Guardiola assures Manchster City of his full support after the European Cup suspension. The star coach made his first statement after the incident.

Pep Guardiola has taken a clear lead against his former club FC Barcelona in the debate over Manchester City’s suspension.

“I don’t know if they’re spying on me, but they know me. There’s no need to spy on me. If they are happy that we have been suspended, I would tell the Barca president to wait for our complaint,” Guardiola said.

Barca boss Josep Maria Bartomeu had previously welcomed the exclusion of citizens from the Champions League, criticising the Premier League clash’s approach and thanking UEFA for its decision.

Guardiola’s clear message: “Don’t speak too loudly, Barcelona, that’s my advice, because everyone is involved in situations. We will lodge a complaint and hopefully play against Barcelona in the Champions League in the future”.

The Catalan also assured his club of his full support.

“No matter what happens, I’ll be here next season,” Guardiola said after the 2-0 (1-0) win in the Premier League’s pent-up game against West Ham United at Sky Sports. “I love this club. This is my club and I will be here.”

The 49-year-old was optimistic that the final word on the matter has yet to be spoken. “We’re optimistic that the truth will prevail in the end and we’ll be in the Champions League next season,” he said. “It’s not over yet.”

All he and his team could do at the moment is “to do what we’ve done in the past few years and concentrate on this season,” said the former coach of German record champions FC Bayern Munich. “I trust my club 100 percent. They have explained the reasons to me.”
