Pep Guardiola does not believe that Leroy Sané (24) will soon be making a comeback near Manchester City. “It takes time,” the coach said at a press conference on Friday. “It will be weeks before he is ready.” Sané had torn his right cruciate ligament last August and had to be operated. In the meantime, the 24-year-old is already training again with the first team of ManCity.
Guardiola continued: “Leroy has started training with us, but he is still not completely there. When you’ve been dealing with an injury for six months, you’re not back immediately. Speed, rhythm and confidence in the knee have to be restored. You must not think about the injury. What is important is that the operation went very well and that he recovers incredibly well. He will come back stronger than before.”
However, when the time comes, Sané’s return to the Premier League runners-up could be brief. As SPORT BILD knows, the German international is still aiming for a change to the record champions.
Sané’s contract with ManCity runs until the summer of 2021, and the Munich team actually wanted to sign him last summer, but then Sané was injured. Currently, his change of advisor is delaying negotiations with Bavaria.
