Liverpool FC are also breaking Southampton 4-0 at home Anfield, and after another home win the Reds are on the verge of breaking another record.

Liverpool FC celebrated their 24th win in Saturday’s 25th game of the current Premier League season against Southampton FC. At Anfield Road, Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team had nothing to show for their 4-0 win.

Chasing Manchester City is now 22 points behind after the 2-0 bankruptcy. Coach Pep Guardiola already wrote off the title. “They are too far away. You can’t stop Liverpool,” said the Catalan. If Liverpool’s mega-series holds, the title decision is only a matter of time.

Liverpool are still six wins away from the title Six wins away Klopp is still missing, then Liverpool’s first championship title in 30 years would also be perfect in purely mathematical terms.

The numbers are already masterful: the Reds won their 20th consecutive home game of the season, setting Manchester City’s 2012 Premier League record. On 24 February the LFC will meet West Ham United at home – a win would make Jürgen Klopp’s team the sole record holder in England.

But the German coach can even break a club record. Even before the founding of the Premier League, legendary manager Bill Shankly managed to win 21 consecutive home games with Liverpool. Shankly set the record between January and December 1972. It is the longest home win series in England.
