Chelsea FC will not travel to the Spanish capital for the Champions League quarter-finals draw against Atlético Madrid.

Coach Thomas Tuchel and FC Chelsea will not travel to the Spanish capital for their final eighteen game in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid.

The European Football Union (UEFA) announced on Wednesday that the match scheduled for 23 February (9 p.m.) will be relocated to Bucharest. This is also due to restrictions on entry due to the corona mutation, which is very common in Great Britain, among others. The second leg will take place on March 17 at Stamford Bridge.

Previously, RB Leipzig’s first games against Liverpool FC (16 February) and Borussia Mönchengladbach’s against Manchester City (23 February) were moved from German soil to Budapest. Here, too, the second leg continues to take place in England.

While Chelsea’s match cannot be played in Madrid, TSG Hoffenheim’s sixteenth game in the Europa League against Molde FK (18 February), for example, had been moved to Villarreal, Spain. Entry to Norway is currently not possible.
