David Villa is again confronted with allegations of sexual harassment. A former intern succumbs to the former national player.
Former Spanish international David Villa continues to face serious accusations.
Former intern of MLS club New York City FC, Skyler Badillo, who is said to have sexually harassed the 38-year-old during his time in the USA (2015-2018), renewed her accusations in an interview with The Athletic. In it, she also accuses the club of not taking her concerns seriously.
Villa had repeatedly told the then 20-year-old that he loved her and touched her inappropriately, Badillo said. The 2010 World Champion also offered her alcohol when she was under legal age.
He asked what alcohol to buy, “so I could come to a party in his apartment,” Badillo said. Two members of the club staff would have laughed when she told them what had happened.
A spokesman for Villa rejected the allegations. “When David first learned about it two years after he left the team, he was fully involved in the investigation, and as he said from the beginning – all the accusations are untrue,” the spokesman said.
The woman had made the accusations for the first time in July via her Twitter account, Villa rejected the accusations. The club conducted internal investigations and stated at the beginning of the month at ESPN that “a small number of players and employees did not act in accordance with the standards of the club when dealing with interns and other employees”.
