Real’s Historic Savings Summer

Real Madrid is known for great transfers. This summer, however, there is a savings course with the royals. The club cracks a 40-year-old brand.

Last summer, Real Madrid had opened the wallet properly and spent more than 300 million euros on new stars. The club broke the 2009 record with 258.5 million euros spent. The picture this year is

quite different: Real Madrid did not have such a quiet transfer phase for a long time. 40 years ago, the royals made it without any new arrivals for the last time and did not turn a penny for transfers.

So coach Zinedine Zidane has to rely on almost the same pre-season squad that won the championship.

Lunin, Ódriozola and Ödegaard are back at Real After all, there were
three returnees on loan: Keeper Andriy Lunin came back from Real Oviedo, right-wing defender Álvaro Odriozola was not bought by FC Bayern and playmaker Martin Ödegaard broke down his tents at Real Sociedad.

With stars Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard, who have been out for a long time this past season, there are also two more sensed new arrivals.

President Florentino Pérez already hoped for a big transfer summer for fans in July: “It’s hard to ask players to cut their salaries and then make a transfer.”
