Kai Havertz is awarded his old jersey number at Chelsea FC. Until recently this belonged to another player of the blues.
After his record transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea FC, international Kai Havertz will continue to play at number 29.
This was announced by his new club on Thursday. The young star had already worn the jersey number in his four professional years at the Werksklub. Fikayo Tomori scored 29 for the blues, and now receives the 14th overall.
Havertz had moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Stamford Bridge for a fee of up to 100 million euros and had thus become the most expensive German footballer in history. For Chelsea, the transfer was the crowning glory of an incredible transfer summer.
The blues brought Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell for well over 200 million euros.
