FC Bayern’s dominant semi-final appearance in the Champions League impressed Dortmund managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke. He also congratulates RB Leipzig.

BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke congratulated the Bundesliga rivals FC Bayern and RB Leipzig on reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League – and bowed especially to the record champions from Munich.

“This may well be the best team that has ever played for Bayern Munich,” said the managing director of Borussia Dortmund at the annual press conference on Monday: “That’s why our 0-1 draw with Bayern Munich was almost solitary in character.

Watzke conceded that BVB, too, “would have liked to have generated more in the cup competitions last year” and is expecting tough competition in the Bundesliga: “Leipzig, Gladbach, Leverkusen – these are all teams that will continue to play a good role in the coming season.

Praise for FC Bayern and RB Leipzig
BVB had failed in the Champions League round of 16 to PSG. Nevertheless, Watzke is pleased with the German successes at the final tournament of the royal league in Lisbon.
