Willian moves within London and leaves FC Chelsea. His new club has recently attracted attention with dismissals.
Willian’s transfer from Chelsea FC to Arsenal FC is perfect. This was confirmed by the Gunners. But the Gunners are making a big splash in England.
According to the Daily Mail, the Brazilian, who came on a replacement basis, will earn a whopping 220,000 pounds (approx. 240,000 euros) a week. Willian’s base salary is said to be lower than Chelsea’s, but once he has played a certain number of games, he could reach the dizzying mark. Willian has signed with the Gunners for three years.
The 32-year-old’s hefty salary raises questions, particularly as Arsenal announced last week that they would lay off 55 staff. According to insiders, the Gunners would deliberately wait with the announcement of the Willian transfer in order to create a certain time lag between the job cuts.
Arsenal denies that this is the case.
Nonetheless, according to the Daily Mail, the promise to spend a total of £35 million on a veteran player shortly after the announcement of his dismissal will inevitably have serious consequences – at least for the mood around the Gunners.
