At a meeting in Munich, adviser Pini Zahavi put central defender David Alaba on a par with real star Sergio Ramos. With good reason?

His adviser Pini Zahavi made no secret of his opinion at a meeting with the Bayern bosses: David Alaba, his client, is currently the world’s best central defender together with Sergio Ramos!

A comparison that was intended to give the attending Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Hasan Salihamidzic an idea of the scale on which Alaba intends to operate financially in future. Provided he extends his contract with the Munich team beyond 2021.

Is this comparison misleading or does it apply?

Striking: Compared to other top central defenders in Europe, Alaba is one of the strongest. He gets 87 passes per game – the highest value! Ramos on 61 and both can also boast a pass quota of 91 percent. Thiago Silva of Paris Saint-Germain leads this ranking with a passing accuracy of 95 percent.

Alaba is outstanding with 18 passes per game in the decisive last third. Ramos has eight of them.

The Austrian is also top of the league with a total of 19 passes in 28 league matches. Ramos is trailing by five. Silva has no goal-shooting assist in 21 league matches.

However, Ramos is the top scorer. The Spaniard has scored eleven goals in the national league, Alaba only one. Liverpool edge Virgil van Dijk has scored four goals.
