After the end of his career Claudio Pizarro talks about his future. His ex-club FC Bayern could play a role here – Werder Bremen, on the other hand, probably not.
After 21 years, the time has come for Claudio Pizarro to retire from the Bundesliga.
The now 41-year-old did so at a press conference in Bremen, where he reviewed the past two decades. “There have been very good and very bad moments”, Pizarro summarized, “but more good than bad. I am very satisfied with what I have achieved in football. Now I’ll have the time to look back and enjoy it.”
By far the most years “Piza” spent at FC Bayern and Werder Bremen. When asked in which city he would rather have a Pizarro monument, the striker said with a wink. “A monument could be erected in both cities, that would be nice.”
What Pizarro expects after his active career, he doesn’t know yet. “I’ve extended my career for many years. Now I’m going to spend time with my family and figure out what to do next.
Pizarro says, “I’m definitely going to stay in soccer.”
One thing is certain: “I will definitely stay in football. It’s what makes me happy, so it’ll be the most important thing in my life.”
One possibility that opens up for the Peruvian would be in Munich. Bavaria’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would like to direct the ex-FCB attacker to Munich as a representative and ambassador.
