Ex-Bale colleague accuses Zidane

Gareth Bale has a tough time at Real Madrid. A former companion expresses a wild theory about the background of Bale’s short stint.

100 minutes on the clock. In the last seven games. Not even 15 minutes on average.

Gareth Bale continues to live a rather dreary existence at Real Madrid. Now a fellow countryman and former Tottenham team-mate of the Welshman has come forward – and thrown a wild theory about Real coach Zinédine Zidane into the room.

“I can’t believe what’s happening to him at Real. I think Zidane is annoyed that Gareth scored a better goal than he did. It seems like a personal thing,” David Bentley told betting company 888sport.

To explain: Zidane scored the decisive goal in the 2002 Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen with a spectacular volley reduction. Bale, for his part, was successful in the 2018 final 122 seconds after his substitution with a bicycle kick.

“Bale is not arrogant”
The former wing player of the Spurs also does not want to let go of the recurring accusation that Bale never really tried to integrate himself in Madrid.

“The thing is, Bale is not arrogant. He’s just quiet,” explained Bentley. “He doesn’t say much and then maybe they think he’s arrogant and just wants to play golf instead of getting involved. But he just wants to do what he can.”
