Mesut Özil will not be playing for FC Arsenal in the FA Cup either. The former world champion is not even in the squad for the Gunners.
Rio World Champion Mesut Özil will have to wait for his first appearance for FC Arsenal after the Corona break.
The 31-year-old is absent from the Gunners’ squad again in the FA Cup quarter-finals at league rivals Sheffield United (14:00).
Özil had already missed the final training session on Saturday due to “slight back problems”, the club announced shortly before the match.
Özil had already been absent from the squad at the restart of the Premier League at Manchester City (3-0), but in the following two matches at Brighton & Hove Albion (2-1) and Southampton FC (2-0) he was on the bench for 90 minutes.
