Wesley Sneijeder was one of the best footballers in recent history.

With the Netherlands he became vice world champion in 2010, that same year he won the Champions League with Inter Milan. However, the time

Sneijder: “Bad things at Real” “Bad things” happened
at Real Madrid, he writes in his biography, published on Friday, quoted in advance from Football International. “The problem was not drugs, but alcohol,”

Sneijder admitted. At the age of 23, he moved to the Royal League, where he quickly felt he was a star. “I’ve gotten used to living like a star. You are revered when you play at Real Madrid,” the 134-time international remembers: “I was young, I liked success and was at the centre of attention.”

But the ever-increasing pressure had put a heavy strain on him. “I was all alone and I didn’t realize that the vodka bottle had become my best friend,” Sneijder wrote. Although he played well, Real was expected to still get better and better.
