The Tottenham Hotspur remain in the race for European League places by beating West Ham United. Harry Kane scores for the first time since his long injury

Tottenham Hotspur remains in the race for European places in the English Premier League.

Team manager Jose Mourinho’s side won 2-0 (0-0) against relegation candidate West Ham United in their own stadium and moved up to one point against Manchester United. Fifth-placed Red Devils will be able to restore their old advantage over Sheffield United on Wednesday.

Kane with first goal after comeback

Tottenham, who won without a win for the first time after four games, dominated the game against London’s city rivals. After numerous missed chances, Tomas Soucek (64th) put the Spurs in the lead with an own goal, Harry Kane increased his lead in the final phase after a 50-metre solo with his first goal of the year.

The England international had been out since the beginning of the year with a thigh injury and only made his comeback last weekend (82nd). The alleged lead by Heung-Min Son (45th) had been withdrawn after video evidence of an offside position.

Leicester City, on the other hand, stumbled in the goalless draw against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Foxes are still on the Champions League course with 55 points in third place.
