Borussia Dortmund is looking for a second centre-forward alongside Erling Haaland. A top talent, which was still a hot topic in winter, is no longer on the list.

You’re on thin ice.

All those responsible at Borussia Dortmund know this – even though Erling Haaland has recently glided very elegantly over the sensitive ground again.

With his Joker goal against Fortuna Düsseldorf – the 16th goal of the season in 14 games – the Norwegian saved the day for BVB once again on Saturday, today he is to further improve his balance sheet against Mainz if possible.

Nevertheless, it did not cloud the club bosses’ view of the need for action on the transfer market: a backup striker is urgently sought for the phases in which the 19-year-old exceptional talent is injured or overplayed again.

But the search is not easy – and a prominent name that is often mentioned is out of the picture.

Edouard too expensive

In principle, the BVB bosses agree that another centre-forward should be added to the Haaland squad – and they are in line with coach Lucien Favre, who confirmed this wish only this week. Possible candidates have the Dortmund team around manager Michael Zorc and chief scout Markus Pilawa also in sight.

At present, the corona crisis and the associated uncertainties make planning,. According to information, however, BVB has already made this decision: The much sought-after talent Odsonne Edouard from France will not.

The 22-year-old striker scored 21 goals in 27 matches for Celtic Glasgow in the Scottish League this season – and was indeed a hot topic at BVB this winter.
