The Uefa Executive Committee will meet on Wednesday. The agenda includes the European Cup competitions and the scheduling of the international matches in autumn.

The European Football Union (Uefa) will decide on the continuation of the European Cup competitions and the scheduling of the international matches in autumn at the meeting of its Executive Committee today, Wednesday. But there are a number of other items on the agenda.

The list is long. So long that the decision-makers on the Uefa Executive Committee have to sit in front of the screens for two days at a time and set the direction of European football for the future.

The main work, however, will be carried out by DFB Vice President Rainer Koch and his colleagues on “Mammoth Wednesday”. Ten of a total of 13 points of order will be processed on this day alone – and some of them are quite a challenge.

It is expected with great excitement how the European Cup will continue. When, where and how will the Champions and Europa League, which have been suspended since mid-March due to the corona crisis, be continued? The plans of the European Football Union have probably not yet been decided down to the last detail, but as is so often the case, the basic outlines were leaked even before the three-hour video conference.

CL final probably in Lisbon
Portugal’s capital Lisbon, for example, is said to have prevailed over its competitor Frankfurt in the final tournament in the top division. The winner of the Europa League, on the other hand, will probably be chosen in North Rhine-Westphalia. Both tournaments are scheduled to be played in August in a knock-out system (without a return leg), with the champions’ final scheduled for 23 August.

Actually, the finals of the two competitions had been awarded to Istanbul (Champions League) and Gdansk (Europa League), but the Corona pandemic thwarted the Uefa plans.
