Müller reveals transfer dilemma

In the public perception, FC Bayern is still holding back on the transfer market. One of the reasons could be the dilemma that Thomas Müller has named.

FC Bayern is running smoothly. Already on Saturday, the record champion against Mönchengladbach (Bundesliga: FC Bayern – Borussia Mönchengladbach, from 18.30 in LIVETICKER) could win the eighth title in a row. But far from the grass, the Munich team is in a transfer dilemma.

Who else but Thomas Müller could have better formulated, with a small but very significant subordinate clause, the conflict in which not only the German record champions find themselves?

“It’s a bit of a paradox when you’re always talking about newcomers and saving salaries at the same time,” Müller said after moving on to the Cup final, having previously emphasised in his usual respectful manner that his Bavarians should, of course, be looking for “extremely good players” like Kai Havertz.

That Havertz, for whom Bayer 04 Leverkusen is demanding at least 100 million euros. Leroy Sané is likely to get between 50 and 65 million euros. For Ivan Perisic, the fixed fee was 20 million euros.

Corona shows the transfer fees in a different light

Sums that were perceived as normal before the corona crisis, but which appear in a different light at least since the outbreak of the pandemic and the social and economic consequences.

Nearly all clubs have asked their employees, some of whom are paid princely salaries, to forego their salaries due to a lack of viewer income and TV money, in order to secure their livelihoods and save club employees, whose own annual salary often does not even correspond to one percent of a player’s annual income, from short-time work.
