La-Liga-Coach reveals start date

Javier Aguirre gives a date for the re-start in La Liga. The coach of CD Leganes emphasizes that the season is to end at the end of July.

The Spanish league apparently wants to restart on June 20th.

This was revealed by Javier Aguirre, Mexican coach of CD Leganes, in an interview. The league refused to confirm.

“We have a start date: We will start again on June 20, and we should be ready by July 26. I have been officially informed”, said Aguirre to Marca Claro. The league had been suspended in March due to the Corona pandemic, eleven match days are still to go. Most clubs are currently preparing to return to training under protective measures.

In Spanish football, five players in the first and second divisions are reportedly infected with the corona virus. According to the public Catalan radio station RAC1, the tests carried out on Thursday identified three first division and two second division players in all teams.

The three first division players are said to come from three different clubs, the two second division players from one club.

The Bundesliga will play again as of 16 May. France has abandoned the Ligue 1 season. The English Premier League and the Italian Serie A have not yet published a plan.
