Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti believes a move from Lionel Messi to Serie A is possible. He brings a spectacular swap into conversation.

The former president of Inter Milan has given the fans hope for superstar Lionel Messi.

“I don’t think it’s forbidden to dream about Messi”, Massimo Moratti told Radio RAI 1: “Maybe it wasn’t before this crisis.”

The 74-year-old was head of the Nerrazzuri club from 1995 to 2003. Due to the Corona pandemic and its effects on the whole of football, he sees big changes coming.

And even if it is impossible to assess whether the situation will change the odds for the better or worse, Moratti says: “We’ll see some strange things at the end of the year.” So also a mega-transfer from Messi?

Moratti thinks: Interested in Messi
“He is at the end of his contract and I think that they are certainly trying to get him to Milan,” said the former Inter boss. This would involve an enormous effort.

Although it seems much more likely that Messi (contract expires in 2021) will end his career with FC Barcelona, as has been announced several times, Moratti sees an opportunity – and is talking about a swap with Inter-Juwel Lautaro Martinez.

The 22-year-old Argentinian striker is already being traded at Barca, and this season in the Inter jersey he impressed with 16 goals in 31 competitive matches. In the Champions League in particular, he has been on the scoresheet with five goals in six games.

Trades Inter Martinez for Messi?
“He’s a good kid who’s looking after his career,” the 74-year-old told Martinez, “but we’ll see if he becomes part of a business to attract more important players like Leo Messi.”
