Barcelona – Spain is one of the countries worst affected by coronavirus. A former captain of FC Barcelona now supports the fight against the virus.
The former football professional Xavi Hernandez supports a large hospital in his long-time home Barcelona in times of the corona crisis with a generous donation. Together with his wife Nuria, the former thinker and leader of the traditional club FC Barcelona is donating one million euros to the Hospital CLINIC in Catalonia’s capital.
“Nuria and I want to make our contribution in the fight against the corona virus,” said the 40-year-old in a video message posted on the hospital’s Twitter channel. Nuria also called on people to make a donation to an established donation account.

Before Xavi and Nuria Hernandez, world footballer Lionel Messi as well as Thiago from FC Bayern and his brother Rafinha (Celta Vigo) had already donated to the hospital in the Catalan capital.
Xavi played with Messi at FC Barcelona until 2015, before ending his career with Al-Sadd in Qatar.
