As the club announced on Monday, the defender suffered an adductor injury. On Wednesday, Real is a guest of FC Chelsea (9pm), in the first leg the two teams split up 1:1.
Varane had been substituted in the 2-0 league win against Osasuna Pamplona on Saturday at half-time. The injury comes at an unfavourable time for Real, as coach Zinedine Zidane’s team will also face another important match in the battle for the Spanish championship title at FC Sevilla on Sunday.
Real is currently two points behind the leader Atletico Madrid.
