Sebastian Coltescu will no longer be used this season after the racism clash during a Champions League game.

After the racism clash during a Champions League game last December, the participating Fourth Official will no longer be used this season.

Romanian Sebastian Coltescu was suspended until 30 June for “inappropriate conduct” on the verge of the duel between Paris St. Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir. However, the European Football Union (UEFA) Chamber of Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Affairs did not find any infringement of Article 14 (Racism and Other Discriminatory Behaviour).

No ban has been imposed on line judge Octavian Sovre, both of whom must attend a training programme on the subject by the summer.

The game was interrupted on 8 December and continued on the following day. The Romanian referee team had sent Istanbul’s assistant coach Pierre Webo to the stands. In this process Coltescu described the Cameroonian with the Romanian word “negru” (black) to identify him for the referee. This was clearly heard through the external microphones.
