Filipe Luis looks back on a long career. At Chelsea FC he played with Eden Hazard – about whom he now reveals interesting details.
Filipe Luís has already experienced a lot in his career and played against or with almost all the world stars of football.
Now the 35-year-old, who is currently finishing his career at Flamengo in his home country Brazil, talked about a possible comparison between Lionel Messi and Eden Hazard.
“Eden Hazard has the natural abilities of Lionel Messi, but lacks the ambition to be the best in the world,” said the experienced defender who played with Hazard at Chelsea FC, the Daily Mail: “He didn’t train well, five minutes before the game he played in the dressing room Mario Kart. He warmed up without tying his shoelaces. Then no one could take the ball from him.”
Hazard is now playing at Real Madrid. In the Spanish capital, however, the 30-year-old struggles with many injuries and has never been able to achieve his potential properly since his change from the blues. “Hazard has so much talent. Perhaps he lacks the ambition to say: ‘I will be the best player in the world.’ Because that could be him,’ believes Luís.
How’s it feel to play Messi?
Luís has often faced Messi in his career and as a defender he knows the strength of the Argentinian very well. However, he believes that he often did not look bad in the direct duels.
“One day I would like to ask Messi what it feels like to play against me,” Luís said: “I saw it as the most important game of my life against him because he was the best player I have ever seen playing.”
According to the Brazilian, Messi above all makes a quality strong:” Messi had one thing – and I studied it very much – that was very important. He doesn’t have the dribbling in his head until the ball comes to him. He observes the movement of the defender and depending on his body position he goes in one direction or the other.
