Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed the last matches of Arsenal FC. Now the ex-BVB star revealed his mother’s illness as a reason.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed the last two games of his FC Arsenal – now the striker has revealed in an emotional statement why he was missing. (Premier League table)

“My mother just had to cope with some health problems and I had to be there for her,” the captain of the Gunners wrote on Twitter.

The Gabonese had been absent from 0-1 in the FA Cup against Southampton and 3-1 in the Premier League against the same opponent.

Now, however, his return is imminent, because there is good news from his mother. “She’s feeling much better now and I’m coming home tonight,” Aubameyang explained in his statement on Wednesday.

The relief with the ex-BVB star was clear: “I am more than grateful that the doctors and nurses helped us get through this.”

Aubameyang especially thanked him for the many messages and good wishes that the Arsenal fans had sent him. “I am truly blessed to receive this support and love from all of you and can’t wait to come back,” he concluded.

It is not yet clear when the striker will be able to play for Arsenal again.

On Saturday, the Gunners meet Manchester United at home in the crack, then a duel with the Wolverhampton Wanderers is scheduled on Tuesday.
