Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola go on a course of confrontation with the Premier League. After the prestigious match between Liverpool and Manchester City (1-1) on Sunday night, the two star coaches criticised the packed schedule on the one hand and the league’s refusal to make five changes per game despite the heavy workload on the other.
One reason for the criticism: With Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, the next star of one of the two teams injured himself. The right-wing defender suffered a calf injury without opposing action and now threatens to fail for a long time. “He can’t play for England, that’s for sure. We’ll
have a scan done and then we’ll see,” Klopp said. Both the Reds and Manchester City are weakened by the current season. Among other things, Liverpool lacks

for five replacements Klopp urged the league to allow five substitutions. This is possible in all other European top leagues such as France, Italy and Germany.
The championship coach addressed league manager Richard Masters with clear words: “We need to talk again. It’s a lack of leadership. If 14 teams disagree on five changes, then at least the top six teams should have the opportunity to do so.”
Guardiola looks similar: “This league wants to be different. But I don’t understand how the Premier League understands the situation. You can’t keep players fit.”
