Mesut Özil reacts with incomprehension to his expulsion. However, despite the setback, the 32-year-old wants to continue fighting for a squad place.

Mesut Özil has responded with a long statement to his expulsion from the squad of FC Arsenal for the Premier League.

On social media, the 32-year-old published an open letter to his fans explaining his thoughts.

Özil misses loyalty!

Özil is therefore “deeply disappointed” that he has not been registered for the Premier League until further notice.

The 2004 World Cup champion confirmed that he had promised loyalty and loyalty to Arsenal 2018 by renewing his contract, but this was not shown to him.

“I have always tried to stay positive from week to week and hoped that I might be able to return to the team quickly. That is why I have so far remained silent,” explained Özil.

Before the corona break, he was satisfied with his development under team manager Mikel Arteta: “But then things changed again and I was no longer allowed to play for Arsenal.”

Arteta reacts – Boateng’s approval

Arteta was quite self-critical on Wednesday evening. “My job is to get the most out of every player. Today I feel like I have failed with it,” said the Spaniard: “I want the best possible mesut for the team. At times I was close, but at the moment I can’t because I had to make the decision to take him out of the squad.” Özil was

acclaimed, among others, by Jérôme Boateng, at whose side he had become World Champion in 2014. “Cheer up, brother,” tweeted Bayern Munich’s central defender: “I’m 100% sure you’ll soon show everyone what’s inside you.” English ex-pro Gary Lineker wrote: “Every footballer wants to play. It destroys the soul if you can’t – regardless of the content.”
