Borussia Dortmund continues to express confidence in Sebastian Kehl. The ex-professional could inherit Michael Zorc from BVB in the future.

Borussia Dortmund plans to continue working with Sebastian Kehl in the future.

The Head of License Player Division has extended his contract with BVB until June 30, 2022. The club announced this on Monday afternoon.

“We are very satisfied with Sebastian and will now involve him even more closely in all sporting decision-making processes,” said Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Kehl’s previous contract would have expired next summer. The 40-year-old could take over the position of Sporting Director of Michael Zorc at the Black Yellows in 2022.

Zorc had announced in the course of his contract extension until 2022 that it would be over afterwards.

Since the beginning of the 2018/2019 season, Kehl has served as Borussia Dortmund’s head of the licensing department.

“I would like to thank the club for their trust in me,” Kehl said, adding: “This is an important, positive signal for me. I am pleased that our common sports-strategic orientation is now ‘standing’ by 2022. Despite difficult conditions in the midst of the pandemic, I still enjoy working on the success of Borussia Dortmund every day.”
