FC Bayern also won the UEFA Supercup after the triple. The eleven of coach Hansi Flick must tremble for a long time before Javi Martínez of all people redeems them.

While his teammates celebrated exuberantly, the hero of FC Bayern stood aside.

Javi Martínez looked almost a little shy as the Silver Cup made its rounds at the record champion, while the usual confetti chips were pounding down. Only towards the end of the festivities on the field did he grab the trophy for a short time.

Shortly before, the Basque had ensured that the Munich team also won the European Supercup after the triple. Martínez headed in his presumably last competitive match for the Bavarians after eight years in the highly exciting 2:1 (1:1, 1:1) n.V. against tough European League winner FC Sevilla the decisive goal.

“That was the cherry on the cream. He will still have this header game in 30 years’ time,” Thomas Müller praised the match winner at Sky in his typical way.

Martínez himself said: “When I play in the Bavarian jersey, I always try to give 100 percent. I showed you that today. I’m satisfied, there was a dream. It was like 2013 when I scored a goal. It was a lovely evening.”
