Chelsea engages new Keeper

FC Chelsea brings the next expensive new addition: Stade Rennes has a new Keeper to solve the goalkeeper problem with the blues. The

top English club FC Chelsea continues its million-dollar shopping tour. After Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and others, the Blues also signed Senegal’s national goalkeeper Edouard Mendy of Stade Rennes. The club confirmed

this late Thursday morning.

Mendy is said to cost between 20 and 25 million euros in redemption. Chelsea hopes that he will solve the problem in the goalkeeper position. Current regular Kepa Arrizabalaga had also played in the opening matches in Brighton (3-1) and against Liverpool (0-2) after a weak season in 2019/20.

Mendy thrilled by Chelsea

“I am very pleased to join Chelsea,” Mendy was quoted in the club’s press release. “It’s a dream for me to be part of this exciting team and work with coach Frank Lampard and his staff.”

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia was also enthusiastic.

“When Petr Cech and our scouting team appointed Edouard as the best goalkeeper for our current team, he was the only one we wanted.” Mendy was ambitious and hungry for further success. “We welcome him to our club.”
