Rakitic, who played for FC Schalke 04 from 2007 to 2011, would still have a contract with Barca until 2021, but no longer plays a role in the plans for the Catalans.
The Catalan club is facing a complete upheaval after the 2-8 debacle against FC Bayern in the Champions League.
In Seville, where Rakitic played from 2011 to 2014, the 32-year-old receives a four-year contract until 2024.
With only 1.5 million euros, the redemption sum communicated by Barca seems like a bargain. Including bonuses, however, this sum is expected to rise to over ten million euros.
Seville will be the European League winner next season in the Champions League.
