Paris Saint-Germain will complete a final test before the showdown against the Italian top team in the Champions League. But the superstars are missing.

Paris Saint-Germain narrowly won their final test before the quarter-final duel with Atalanta Bergamo in the Champions League.

German coach Thomas Tuchel’s side beat FC Sochaux 1-0 after a goal from former Bundesliga player Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, and the winning goal was scored in the 15th minute.

Tuchel gave his second row in particular a chance against the French second-league team for a few minutes of competitive action. Supplementary player Julian Draxler, for example, was on the pitch from the start. The former Bayern professional Juan Bernat was also allowed to play again.

Not in the line-up were Kylian Mbappé, Layvin Kurzawa, Marco Verratti, Marquinhos, Thilo Kehrer, Thiago Silva, Neymar and Mauro Icardi, among others. Most of them will return to the squad for the game against Bergamo, however, with only Mbappé’s injured side still to be called.

The remaining days until the showdown on 12 August will be a race against time for the French world champions.

At national level, PSG have already won all kinds of titles with the championship and both cup competitions.
