Legend Steven Gerrard raves about Jürgen Klopp. For the long-time captain, the German is on a par with the best trainers of the Reds.
The first Premier League title for Liverpool FC in 30 years has made Jürgen Klopp immortal. No wonder that comparisons are made with the very great club legends. For Steven Gerrard, Klopp is already on a par with them.
“The Liverpool institution is almost like a religion – people handing each other the baton to continue the Liverpool way, which leads back to Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan,” explained the long-time captain in a documentary by Channel 4 in cooperation with the Erdinger Brewery, for which Klopp is the advertising face.
Gerrard: “Klopp one of the best coaches in the world
The three deceased Reds coaches won a total of ten English championship titles between 1963 and 1984 and four times the European Cup of Nations’ Champions.
“Jürgen came and took all the pressure that weighs on one of the biggest clubs in the world on his shoulders, playing wild, phenomenal football and winning trophies. He came with broad shoulders because he knew he would succeed,” enthused Gerrard of the German coach.
The former Reds captain continued: “He is on the list of the best Liverpool coaches and the best coaches in the world. Fact.”
