Most recently, the management of David Alaba met with the Bayern bosses in Munich. What poker is really about for the Austrian.

A few weeks ago, Bavaria’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Hasan Salihamidzic, who was promoted to Sports Director in July, and George Alaba, father of Bayern star David, and player-agent Pini Zahavi met in a Munich restaurant popular with the Bayern bosses.

Of course, this was all about Alaba’s contract extension as requested by the people of Munich.

But the discussion was not only about the current central defender number one of the Bavarians.

In the talks, which were supposed to have been open and harmonious, Alaba was compared with the top central defenders in Europe.

Zahavi showed the Bayern managers what transfer revenues, for example, Harry Maguire (Manchester United/87 million euros according to transfermarkt.de), Virgil van Dijk (FC Liverpool/85) and Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City/65) have earned from their transfers and what they earn with their new clubs. Zahavi is also said to have made it clear that Alaba and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) are currently the best central defenders in the world for him.

Alaba’s salary is the sticking point
The clear message: Alaba has reached the top and should be remunerated accordingly. This is precisely the crux of the stalled negotiations.

Alaba wants to climb into the ranks of the absolute top earners at FC Bayern and, according to picture information, earn more than 20 million euros gross per year. Spheres in which Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller are to move.
