Chelsea FC beat Norwich City after a tedious game and continue to have the best chance of winning the Champions League. Olivier Giroud scores the goal of the day.
Six-time English champions Chelsea FC have consolidated their third place in the Premier League in the final spurt for a place in the Champions League.
On Tuesday evening, the Blues beat relegated Norwich City on the third-last matchday of the season to a 1-0 (1-0) win over German team manager Daniel Farke.
Chelsea extended their lead over rivals Leicester City and Manchester United to four points with their fifth home win in a row, but they may be back on the scoresheet on Thursday.
Giroud scores after Pulisic
With international Antonio Rüdiger in the starting line-up, Chelsea pressed for speed after the recent 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United and pushed for an early lead. However, Farke’s “canaries” with former Bundesliga pros Timm Klose and Lukas Rupp put up a valiant fight for a long time.
It was only in stoppage time in the first half that Olivier Giroud managed to take the deserved lead for the favourites after preparatory work by ex-Dortmund Christian Pulisic. In the second half the same picture: Chelsea is attacking, Norwich is at the back. However, clear scoring chances failed to materialise in what was, on the whole, a mediocre game.
