Who meets whom and when? UEFA wants to draw lots for the quarter-finals of the Champions League before all the participants have been determined. The Europa League will also be drawn.

Not all the participants have been determined yet, but UEFA wants to draw lots for the next round of the Champions League as early as Friday (12 noon on LIVETICKER).

As the European Football Association announced, the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place in Nyon. After the Champions League, the remaining matches for the Europa League will also be drawn (1 pm on LIVETICKER).

With RB Leipzig, Atalanta Bergamo, Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain only four teams are qualified for the quarter finals.

FC Bayern, FC Chelsea (first leg: 3-0), FC Barcelona, SSC Naples (first leg: 1-1), Olympique Lyon, Juventus Turin (first leg: 1-0), Manchester City and Real Madrid (first leg: 2-1) are still fighting for their ticket. The remaining matches will be played on 7 and 8 August. It is not yet clear where they will be played.

From the round of the last eight onwards, however, it is known that all matches will then be played exclusively in Lisbon. As in the DFB Cup, there will be only one duel for each round.

Duel RB Leipzig – FC Bayern possible
As UEFA further announced, two teams from the same league can already meet in the quarter-finals. A duel between RB and Bayern, for example, would be possible with all eight balls going into one pot. Four of the eight lots would then contain the inscription “Winner FC Bayern vs. FC Chelsea”, for example.

The quarter finals will be played between 14 and 16 August. The semi-finals will then take place on 18 and 19, with the final scheduled for 23 August.

The final tournament will take place in North Rhine-Westphalia (Gelsenkirchen, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne), with the final taking place in the RheinEnergieStadion Cologne on 21 August.
