Javi Martínez will probably leave FC Bayern in summer. Loved by the fans, but his clock was already ticking under Guardiola. The Corona Triple would be the perfect ending.

He could leave as one of the most successful players in the so successful club history of FC Bayern Munich.

But Javi Martínez has never liked the big sounds, and the Basque will probably take his hat off to him quietly after the Champions League final tournament, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Funke Mediengruppe reported unanimously.

According to the report, Martínez was given the go-ahead a year before his contract was due to expire, the second triple would be a worthy conclusion to the 2010 world championship, but time has somewhat overtaken him.

Martínez no longer in demand
He is still held in high esteem by his fans, but in modern football the busboy and strategist almost looks a bit like a dinosaur.

Under Hansi Flick, the Bavarians have also come to rely on speed, aggressiveness and lightning-fast switching – all not necessarily the strengths of the almost 32-year-old.

In central midfield, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich have recently impressed with their dynamism and goalscoring prowess. As a result, Martinez only made 16 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Most recently, he himself had indicated his departure after eight years in the Marca with an incredible number of titles. He is “open to everything. It could be that I will live in the USA and play football, or in Australia. Or that I’ll go back to Spain.”
