For the first time Jürgen Klinsmann admits to mistakes in his departure from Hertha BSC. The 55-year-old apologizes for his actions during the separation.

After his controversial departure from Hertha BSC, Jürgen Klinsmann has now for the first time made a public statement about his brief intermezzo at the capital city club.

In an interview with the German Press Agency on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the national football team’s World Cup triumph in 1990, the former national coach also spoke about his time with Hertha – and admitted some mistakes.

Klinsmann: “I am very sorry
After Hertha had invested almost 80 million euros in new recruits during the winter break, Klinsmann surprisingly resigned from all his posts after only eleven weeks as head coach. The reason for this was probably different ideas between him and the club management regarding his role in the club.

“Unfortunately, we did not manage to come to a written agreement in ten weeks,” the former national coach emphasised: “I am very sorry about how my departure from Hertha BSC came about after we had put six points between us and the relegation spot.

Now the world is safe again?
But the most amazing thing happened only a few days after Klinsmann’s inglorious departure. An unidentified source revealed a catalogue of grievances against Hertha. It was sketched by Jurgen Klinsmann.

“The fact that an analysis, which I had prepared for internal use in my capacity as advisor to the investor, subsequently came to public attention was detrimental to everyone involved. It remains a mystery to me today how this came to the media,” Klinsmann explained in an interview.
