Spanish record champions Real Madrid have taken advantage of another slip-up by arch-rivals FC Barcelona in the title bout to regain their lead in the La Liga.
With international Toni Kroos in the starting line-up, the Real Madrid won 1-0 (1-0) at the bottom of the table at Espanyol Barcelona. Barca had not gone beyond a 2-2 (1-0) win with cellar child Celta Vigo on Saturday.
With six games to go, Real’s lead over the Catalans is two points. The winner for Real was Casemiro (45th) after Karim Benzema’s impressive hacking work.
