Liverpool FC test against a second-league club shortly before the Premier League re-start and easily win.
Liverpool FC have won a friendly behind closed doors.
The Reds defeated the Blackburn Rovers 6-0.
Sadio Mané gave Jürgen Klopp’s team a 10th-minute lead against the second division team. Ex-Leipziger Naby Keita raised his score shortly afterwards, Takumi Minamino provided the 3-0 break.
The Japanese, who had moved from Red Bull Salzburg to Liverpool in the winter, also used his template for Keita’s own advertising.
In the second half, the former rogue Joel Matip, Ki-Jana Hoever and Leighton Clarkson took the result to the top.
Klopp satisfied
“It looked really good,” Klopp said on the club’s own website: “Form and such things are important, of course, but it’s also about attitude. It’s about things like: ‘Are you ready to get into this kind of thing?'”
The coach added: “In the first game we don’t have to be at the highest level of football, but we have to show that we are ready to defend, that we are ready to find solutions.”
His players “have done really well. That’s how they’ve looked since we’ve been back – and that’s how it looked before. So far, so good.”
For the Reds, who last played against another team before the Corona break on March 13th, it was a welcome test before the reboot.
Liverpool ahead of the title
“It wasn’t just a training, for us it was a really important test”, Klopp also said: “It looked really good, pretty much from the beginning.
The switching game had been “brilliant”, “the football was really good, the goals were beautiful and it was a really good afternoon.”
The Premier League will open in ten days’ time. Liverpool will then face Everton FC in the Merseyside derby and are close to winning the title.
