Bremen – After seven points from three games Werder Bremen have to accept another setback in the relegation battle. The Kohfeldt team suffered a home defeat against Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt has probably finally got rid of all fears of relegation and has thus massively increased Werder Bremen’s worries again. Adi Hütter’s team won the catch-up game of the 24th matchday at the Hanseatic League with a deserved 3-0 (0-0) and climbed to eleventh place in the table thanks to their second win in a row.

Andre Silva (61st) scored in an unexciting game per head for Frankfurt against altogether harmless Bremen players.

Stefan Ilsanker (81st) made everything clear 19 seconds after his substitution after a corner kick, the Austrian increased his score again in the 90th minute. It was the defensive player’s first two Bundesliga goals.

“We’re giving away the opposing goals too easily,” said Werder captain Niklas Moisander at Sky: “But it’s not over yet. We’ve been in a good situation in the three matches before. Now we have to stay calm.”

Kohfeldt: “Then we will not make it”
After two wins from three games, the home defeat means another hard blow for Werder. At home, the green-whites scored a meagre six points throughout the entire season and have not scored a win in the past twelve home games.

Even coach Florian Kohfeld is at a loss to explain the disastrous home record: “If I knew exactly what to do, I would have stopped it in any case. We have no blockade, no fear of driving into the stadium here. It bothers me as much as anyone else.”

Werder fought, but didn’t act single-mindedly in the offensive and remained on the penultimate place. In the adjusted table, Green-White is now still two points behind Fortuna Düsseldorf on the relegation spot.
