So much triple is in FC Bayern

FC Bayern celebrated its first triple exactly seven years ago. This season, the Munich team can also claim all three titles. SPORT1 makes the big comparison.

FC Bayern Munich can’t get around this comparison.

Exactly seven years ago, a 3-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart was the greatest success in the club’s history. Jupp Heynckes’ team won the cup against the Swabians, the only triple in the club’s history.

A week earlier, the record champions had defeated BVB 2-1 in a memorable Champions League final at Wembley. In the end, the Heynckes team won the championship with a commanding 25 points lead.

It goes without saying that since then almost all the Bayern teams have been compared with the legendary triple team of 2013. This season, the Munich team is still in all competitions. While players such as Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer were then and still are a permanent fixture, a large part of the team has repositioned itself.

Bastian Schweinsteiger/Joshua Kimmich
For a long time it seemed as if Joshua Kimmich was more suited to succeed Philipp Lahm in the Bavarian team. Especially since the 25-year-old had made a name for himself as a legal defender. But it was not only since his transfer to midfield headquarters that parallels with the record champions’ long-time midfield leader have become apparent.

Like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Kimmich is not too bad for anything on the pitch. He leads the way, impresses with his body language, passion and aggressiveness. This way he takes his teammates with him. Many already see Kimmich as the coming captain of the record champion.
