Ralph Hasenhüttl decides on a future at FC Southampton and signs a new long-term contract in England.

Ralph Hasenhüttl and FC Southampton have agreed on a long-term continuation of their cooperation.

The former coach of RB Leipzig signed a new contract with the English first division club, which is valid until 2024. The club officially announced this on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old has been under contract with the Saints since December 2018. The Austrian had previously coached SpVgg Unterhaching, VfR Aalen, FC Ingolstadt and most recently Leipzig in Germany. As reported by the Sun, Hasenhüttl and the club have been in agreement for some time about extending the contract, but apparently did not want to announce it in the middle of the Corona break.

The Premier League will start playing again on 17 June. Southampton will go into the season final at the restart from 14th place.

Besides the mission of maintaining his class Hasenhüttl is mainly concerned with the promotion of young talent at his club. During the compulsory break he worked out a training plan which includes all teams of the club.

In this way he wants to anchor his playing philosophy in the youth teams and give the club a new direction. “It’s a huge project but we’ve had time to move it forward,” said the coach.
